BUN BUN is Adopted!!!
GREAT NEWS!!
Bun Bun has been adopted by a very nice family from Northport!
Poor Bun Bun was left in a carrier in front of Doggie Don's pet shop in the middle of the night. Luckily, Don had stopped by the store soon after and found her there. He took her in and place her in store safely and called us immediately.
We went to meet Bun Bun the following morning. She was simply terrified.
We took her to Greenlawn Animal Hospital right away to have her examined. She was tested for FIV/FELV, vaccinated, spayed and microchipped following the examination.
Do the lack of an available foster family, we temporarily placed Bun Bun in one of our habitats to give her a few days of rest and sense of security and also have a chance to observe her. Although she was clearly not a feral cat, she was so traumatized that she was frequently agressive.
Lora who had met Bun Bun couple of days after her arrival was so touched by her story that she contacted us right away and started the application process even though no one knew if Bun Bun would ever come around to trust people again. She decided to take a chance.
Bun Bun (renamed Gracie) is now with her very own compassionate family who has been showering her with love. She is adjusting well.
We wish all the best for them!
Booth at Marist Market Day
Thanks Gina Recchia, the event planning crew, and Marist Fashion, for putting together a lovely day on the green yesterday. We had a wonderful time making everyone happy with kitten love! Check out some of the pictures app our Booth at Marist Market Day.
Treasure is Adopted!!!
GREAT NEWS!!
Treasure was adopted by a very nice family from Huntington!
Treasure was the last of the siblings from a litter of kittens cared for by our very awesome foster Jean. Her brothers Tic, Tac and Toe had already found their homes and we were all getting very anxious about poor Treasure being left behind. Now she is in a home of her own.
We wish them all the best and thank our foster Jean and to all of our dedicated volunteers who took very good care of Treasure at the Petco Commack store. :)
Vixen is Adopted!!!
GREAT NEWS!!!
Vixen has been adopted by a wonderful family from Commack! They're sure to give each other endless joy.
We're so thankful to our fosters for taking such good care of Vixen from day one, and all of our volunteers who took care her by visiting their habitats twice a day.💞
Please consider becoming a foster family, volunteering and/or donating to NCRA so that we maybe be able to answer more calls of help that we get each day. Thank you.
Jukebox is Adopted!
GREAT NEWS!!!
We are thrilled to report that Jukebox got adopted to a wonderful family in Huntington!! We are so very happy for him and his new family. <3
We're very thankful to all of our volunteers for taking such good care of him during his stay with us! He had been brought in due to an injury and we decided to see if we could find him a home rather than returning him to the colony because he was so very friendly and charming. It was a long wait but finally he now has a home of his own.
As most of you know, our volunteers visit our rescued cats twice a day to clean their habitats, give them fresh water and food, and of course much needed love.
Please visit our website and consider becoming a volunteer with us and/or donating to our organization so that we may continue this work and help more and more cats in the future.

Jukebox has a Message
"I go by the name of Jukebox, because I sing a lot of tunes. Used to hang out over in Westbury, in a college campus. Life wasn't all that bad I guess. This guy, I guess he is a professor of something, he goes by the name Don Kershan, and some of the kids over there in college used to bring me and my buddies food and water on the regular. I don't know when my birthday is but I figure I am about a year and a half young. But I am no baby. Life is tough out there for us you know, so you gotta grow up and toughen up pretty quick, or you ain't gonna make it.
Which brings me to why I ended up in the cell. I didn't do nothing. I was just defending myself. This fat cat come rolling into town like he owns the place. Talking trash to me and my buddies. We gotta territory to defend you see. We can't just let any Jack come in there messing about, you understand? So we got into it good. I wasn't gonna go down without a fight. He bit me on the leg. Not too bad though. This professor fella and his lady heard about the ruckus and came right over to check it out. They took me to the doc and he fixed me up good. They tested me and gave me some shots. Clean as a whistle I tell you. They did this other procedure too but I don't wanna talk about that.
Then they were all like "oh you're such a good boy" and "oh look how handsome you're". They say if I be good and don't get in no truble, they might find some nice people to adopt me and take me to a good home. You know.. that don't sound so bad.
Anyway.. I've been good and all.. So.. we're just chillin' over here, you know what I'm saying? Hit me up some time!"

2016 Yard & Bake Sale!
Our Yard & Bake Sale on November 5th & 6th 2016 was a huge success! We send our heartfelt thanks to all the volunteers that helped us collect items, set up, help the customers, sell raffles and of course clean up! Whether it was baking yummy treats, setting up tents, driving, carrying, loading, setting up an extension cord to keep the cider hot! plus plus....you are all Northport Cat Rescue stars! We had a wonderful time even when we were tired and the wind decided to carry one of our tents away! I think we all enjoyed shopping for our treasures and we must recognize the family and friends that came to shop and brought their family and friends with them. The kittens and cats of NCRA thank you all too! Happy Thanksgiving to all!
TGIF!
Miss Madison
TGIF because cats waiting for adoption tend to get most attention over the weekend:)
That's Miss Madison up there. Usually her brother Klay does all the marketting while she just sits there looking all glorious.
They're a ten year old bundle. They were given up by a family due to an alergic child in the house. Needless to say everyone involved was heart broken.
Because of the long history of the siblings, we insist that they go together and we won't give up on looking for the purrfect family that we know is out there for these super sweet and friendly lovebugs.
Miss Madison was adopted by one of our volunteers! Thank you.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Throwback Thursday... Remembering Charlie ♥
Why is that on a Thursday? That doesn't even matter. The good thing is that it exists. This way we can go back and remember. As I sit here and build a website for Northport Cat Rescue, I'm so happy to see how many kitty faces and stories I have to put on that "happy tails" page. They are all so sweet! While they have had the misfortune of becoming homeless, they all eventually had happy endings.
Charlie was one of them. His "about me" tag was:
"My name is Charlie. My brother and I are, 12 week old healthy male kittens. FIV/FeLV negative. We are neutered & have been vaccinated. We were found by friends of NCRA and fostered by very caring people. We are very playful and eager to learn all about you and your family. Can you give us a loving home? Come visit us at Petco in Commack!"
It's so great to know that Charlie has to plead no more because he found someone to love him.
It's sad to think of how many homeless cats are out there and sometimes it can get hopeless. Yet, as Don Kershan, one of the directors of Northport Cat Rescue once said with tears forming in his eyes, "you gotta start somewhere and do what you can."
Have an awesome Thursday and don't forget about our furry friends out there:)
