Lisa Bender, volunteer

Hi my name is Lisa. I grew up with animals all my life. I tend to favor Cats more so than Dogs, but I love dogs too. I had Ovarian Cancer 2 years ago and was unable to care for the two cats. I found out about Northport Rescue. In my heart it was very hard for me to place my cats in their forever homes, but with the help of Northport Rescue they found two loving and caring furever homes for my babies. I am so grateful to them. I found out they were looking for volunteers, and this was the perfect opportunity to give back to them for what they have done for me. They are a very loving and caring organazation and since volunteering, I have seen their cats get adopted. Since I no longer can have cats myself, I enjoy taking care of the ones through Northport so they can be happy and clean and comfortable while waiting for their furever homes. Thankyou for all you have done for me and for letting me be part of this wonderful organazation. 😊🐈❤️“ Lisa Bender

Lauri Chupka

I have loved cats since my family adopted our first cat when I was 9 years old. We have had cats in our home ever since. When I saw an ad for a volunteer opportunity with NCRA I knew it was something I would enjoy doing. My husband and I adopted our last cat, Hattie (Harriet), in January of 2018, two months after I started volunteering with NCRA. We now have 3 cats. I love seeing the NCRA cats every week. I get to meet new cats all the time and love hearing when they are adopted into their forever homes. Volunteering has been a very rewarding experience for me.” Lauri Chupka

Brian Dement, Volunteer

Hi I’m Brian. I’m a 49 years old retired FDNY Fireman. I have two sons 14 and 7, two cats Ashley and Blaze who are almost a year old each. I’ve had them since they were babies and they are also rescues. I volunteer because I really love how much my own cats have helped me with mu struggle from PTSD since 9/11. I love all cats, to me they are fur angels. I like their personalities and how you have to earn their trust and love. They don’t expect much from us and give so much. My experience volunteering with Northport Cat Rescue has been great. I enjoy feeling like I’m making a difference to these amazing small lives.” Brian Dement

Stuart Guberman, volunteer

I am an infrastructure systems engineer with a Fortune 500 company.

I volunteer with NCRA because I can’t have any cats of my own and love them. It helps me to clear my head, too. I feel sad to hear the stories of how they were before being rescued. My name experience with NCRA has been rewarding both for me and the cats. I care for them deeply and am always happy when they find their forever homes.” Stuart Guberman

Marissa & Susan Sacca

Daughter & Mom Team

♥️

Marissa is a Junior in high school this year. We began volunteering with NRCA as a way to fulfill a school requirement but found a true love with the experience! Since volunteering we have rescued a kitten who we found outside our home and adopted a kitten from NCRA. Marissa and I really enjoy our weekly visits with the cats & kittens at Petco Commack and are so happy to share our home with two cats! At sixteen, Marissa has a great sense of fairness, equality and justice. She is a hard working and dedicated student. We won’t tell you Susan’s age - but she is a happy new “Mimi” with two sweet little granddaughters!” Susan Sacca
