Meet Squeaky
Squeaky was found outside in East Northport with her sister and four tiny kittens. The little family appeared unexpectedly at the back door of one of our sponsors and was believed to have been left behind when nearby residents moved away. While her sister cared for the kittens, Squeaky stayed close and helped watch over them like an attentive aunt.
From the beginning, Squeaky was affectionate, outgoing, playful and trusting. She loves people, attention and other cats—and seems to make friends with everyone she meets.
After a routine spay surgery, Squeaky became unusually tired. Bloodwork revealed that she had chronic kidney disease. Once she began eating a prescription kidney-support diet, she responded beautifully: her bloodwork improved, her energy returned and her playful personality came shining back. Today, Squeaky is stable, active and thriving. She simply needs to remain on her special diet for life.
Her foster family describes her as one of the most playful cats they have ever known. Give her a few spring toys and she can entertain herself for hours. She loves snacks, greets visitors and makes sure her foster family never forgets when breakfast is due.
Squeaky is also a devoted lap cat. If you work from home, you will always have company, and at night her favorite place to sleep is curled up in someone’s arms. She has an adorable overbite, tiny fang-like teeth and a meow that sounds more like a little squeak—which is how she got her name.
Although managing her prescription food may be simplest if she is the only cat, Squeaky genuinely enjoys other cats and could live happily with one if her family can feed them separately.
Squeaky has spent nearly a year in foster care waiting for someone to choose her. Her adopter will need to provide the special food that keeps her healthy, but in return they will receive a funny, affectionate and playful companion with an extraordinary amount of love to give.
