Going to the Cinema! The Cat Rescuers- with director Rob Fruchtman in person!

Going to the Cinema! The Cat Rescuers- with director Rob Fruchtman in person!

Going to the cinema! A film about The Cat Rescuers lives in Brooklyn screening, right here in Huntington. Join us. :)

“Feral and abandoned cats prowl the streets of New York City in the tens of thousands. Because the City can't handle this problem, hundreds of dedicated, volunteer rescuers have come to their aid.

With over 500,000 streets cats struggling to survive in NYC, and the city unwilling to address the problem, spirited volunteers like Sassee, Claire, Stu and Tara have come to their aid. Their beat is Brooklyn, where the problem has exploded. Combing the borough’s alleys, backyards and housing projects, they trap the cats, get them fixed and returned to their colonies, or adopted. THE CAT RESCUERS shows the skill, resilience and humor they bring to this challenging but rewarding work, and how their mission to reduce animal suffering, often at great sacrifice to themselves, has changed their lives.”

Norhtport Cat Rescue Honors Judy Thamm

Norhtport Cat Rescue Honors Judy Thamm

Hi Friends and Family,

In Loving Memory of our friend Judy Thamm, we are partnering with the Visiting Nurse Service & Hospice of Suffolk's 18th Annual Run for the Health of It to raise money for their bereavement programs and Hospice House.

Judy will always be remembered for her smile, inspiration, dedication, and incredible talents.  Not only was Judy a co-founder of Northport Cat Rescue but she was an active participant right up until the time she took ill. Judy promoted and attended all of our fund-raising events, yard sales, and social gatherings, and assisted Joe in maintaining a schedule of care for the animals. She was very proud to be involved with Northport Cat Rescue and she will be sorely missed by the NCRA family.

During the last weeks of her life, Judy frequently spoke of how grateful she was to be surrounded by loving family and friends. She was also very grateful for all the nurses and aides from the Visiting Nurse that cared for her.  Simple things we all take for granted in our daily lives, even taking a bath, become the most challenging when we fall ill.  Judy would say, speaking of the Visiting Nurse staff, "I cannot believe how nice she was. So gentle. She sang to me while she bathed me, can you believe that?.. To be so kind and gentle to someone you don't even know.. I'm so thankful..."

All of us know a loved one who has been in this situation. When someone we love is in need of hospice care, we all suffer the same roller coaster of emotions; helplessness and sadness. it is small stuff that gives us all tiny moments of comfort.  We are grateful to the Visiting Nurse and its wonderful staff for being there for Judy and we, as Northport Cat Rescue Association would like to extend a helping hand to them so they may always continue providing this most valuable service for others in the future.

We greatly appreciate your support and for helping us reach our goal. You can donate now and by hitting “Give Now” on the upper right. All donations are 100% tax-deductible and can be made with any major credit card. It only takes 30 seconds. Thank you so very  much for your support!

Thank you for joining us!
