All About Bello

Meet handsome Bello, a 2-year-old orange tabby, Northport Cat Rescue Association’s cat of the week.

Bello was left behind when his family moved away, forced to roam the neighborhood, begging for food and shelter. Thankfully, a kind woman saw him, scooped him up, and now he’s safe under our care.

Bello is just about 2 years young and FIV positive—and that’s perfectly okay. FIV is short for Feline Immunodeficiency virus.  FIV is only contagious among cats and is difficult to transmit. FIV is only transmitted thru a deep puncture wound, for instance between feral Tom cats that battle outside or very rarely from a mother cat to her kittens.

It cannot transmit to humans, dogs or other pets.  He can still live a long, happy, love-filled life, with or without other kitty siblings.

Every single person who meets Bello falls in love. He is gentle, grateful, and holds no grudges—despite everything he’s been through. He is so affectionate that it was difficult to get a still picture of Bello because his is constantly rubbing up against you when you are near him. He is currently in our habitats at Petco Huntington, loving any attention anyone wants to give him. This sweet boy just needs a place to feel safe and loved and he will pay you back forever.

Bello is fully vaccinated, FIV positive /FeLV negative, neutered and microchipped.
