Alyssa with seven weeks old Owen
"Hi. My name is Alyssa and I am 11. I started fostering a year and a half ago as a surprise by my parents. I foster because I love cats and all things animals. When I grow up I want to be a vet. I went to many shelters to see if I could volunteer and was turned down because of my age. I had to be 16 years old with adult supervision in order to volunteer. I walked away crying. My parents found this perfect opportunity for me to help animals. There was a knock on my door one day and a lady was standing there with a pet carrier and a bag of supplies. I looked puzzled, not sure what was going on. My parents told me that this lady was dropping off two kittens for us to foster for 2 weeks. I cried tears of joy. Those 2 weeks turned into a year and a half and about 30 foster kittens later, I love it. There’s nothing better than getting new kittens that I can raise to be friendly, outgoing, and loveable to the best of my ability so that they will find the perfect forever home."
