Cooper the Mush

Our volunteer Kaitlyn at Huntington Petco updates:

“Such a sweet and happy boy!!!!😻”

“Such a mush!!! I’m obsessed! He won’t stop purring and playing. Just an angel😻😻”

Sweet and loving, this handsome boy Cooper was left behind when his family moved away.

He is safe, warm, well fed and loved plenty by us, but we would love it of he was getting cozy in a home of his own.

Please consider him if you’re looking to adopt and please share.

Thank you! 🙏🐈

Homeless no more

Current temperature 19 °F

This poor kitty has no idea how much love and care she is about to get.

Yet another friendly cat left out in the cold to fend for herself, in an East Northport neighborhood, after her family moved away.

Thankfully kind neighbors reached out, thankfully we had the resources to pick her up. Now she is safe, warm and fed. 😻💕

Please continue supporting our rescue. Current fundraiser “Super Bowl Boxes”. Buy a box or two. Help some cats. You might even win some prizes.

Thank you!

All About Cash the Snuggle Bug

His foster Lora says:

“I have to tell you..

Cash is one of the sweetest cats I have ever seen.  A big teddy bear! Loving beyond.  Lets me hold him and mush him. He came out of foster room tonight his feet were clicking. I pick him up and I cut his nails.  Not one ounce of aggression. Then our cat Gracie came up to him and all he did was sniff her.”

Please consider him if you’re looking to adopt.  You will end up with a cuddle bunny.  Please share so we can find the lucky person who will take him home quickly.

Scary Day

Yesterday morning started out scary.  We received a call for assistance with a cat that had been seen get hit by a car and ran into the woods the day before.  Though they searched for Kiki for hours, they couldn’t find her.  The owners spent a night in agony thinking of how Kiki was suffering alone in the woods.

Thankfully Kiki returned the next morning but clearly was not feeling well.

That’s when we got the call for assistance.  We picked up Kiki from her Kings Park home and took her to West Hills Animal Hospital.  They took her in immediately, a quick ultrasound showed no internal bleeding and though uncomfortable, ability to be able to put weight on all four limbs suggested there were no broken bones either.

We are so grateful to everyone at West Hills and Dr. Dicker who was so efficient and helpful.  They are all amazing there and highly recommend.  He suggested that though she was banged up and likely bruised, a week of keeping in a cage with few doses of pain medication and much love and tender care, Kiki should be all better.

Took Kiki back home and set her up in a cage. Went back later that night to check up on her and assist with administering her medication, and we will continue to do so until her prescription is complete.

We are very happy to be able to help this family and Kiki when they needed us and all relieved that she is doing well.  A day well spent with a good ending.

We don’t always share everything we are all doing, usually to busy running around jiggling rescue work with our own families and obligations but rest assure we are all doing as much as possible each day.

We hope you’ll consider becoming a sustaining member of Northport Cat Rescue. Every little bit helps and we are grateful for all your help.

Happy Tails: Yin & Yang

We are thrilled to say that both Yin & Yang have been adopted to awesome families. We wish them all the best!😻

As always, we are furever grateful to our wonderful fosters and volunteers at the Petco Commack location who all take such good care of our rescue cats during their stay with us. Yin & Yang were fostered by Hilal and then, the Bergeron family. Without our fosters and volunteers, we would not be able to rescue as many cats as we do.

We know being directly involved with rescue efforts is very time consuming and understand not everyone is able to do it. If you wish to help but don’t have the time, you could certainly be just as valuable to our organization by sponsoring us with a monthly contribution. We are a 100% volunteer based organization and operate solely on donations. The more members we have the more cats we are able to rescue. All of your donations are tax deductible.

Thank you for your consideration.

NCRA 2019 Summer Party

Everyone had a great time at our annual summer get together yesterday! We are so very grateful to all of our volunteers, foster families, and donors. We would not be able to do what we do, which is to help cats in need, without their help and support. Thank you all who came to the party. Those who couldn't make it, you were missed and we hope you can join us next time.

A special thanks to the McArdle family for sharing their beautiful home for our event!

Best Wishes,
Janet, Joe, Don , Diane and Seher

GREAT NEWS!!! Grace, Nellie and Charlotte are Adopted!

GREAT NEWS!!! Grace, Nellie and Charlotte were adopted today by a lovely family from Northport. We are so thrilled for them all and their new family. We wish them all the best and thank all of our volunteers for taking such good care of our rescue cats during their stay with us.
Grace and her five kittens were discovered by Amy at a feral colony. Amy called us for help and worked very hard to catch them all. We couldn't be happier to see them go to great homes. 😹😻😸

CAT IN DISTRESS FOUND!

We think we've found the cat we've been looking for. Thank you everyone who helped search for him.
He was caught in one of the traps we had set up on Wilson Street, on Judith's porch.
This is where Judith had seen him a week before.
Though he no longer had a plastic container over his head and shows no signs of trauma around his neck, we're pretty confident that this is the cat we've been looking for. He fits the description of all who had reported seeing the cat in distress. Two other similar looking cats that are known to the neighborhood are home safe and no one else has come forward regarding this cat.
He had no microchip and he had not been neutered. We have had him vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, SNAP tested, and he received an antibiotic shot for his nose which seemed to be roughed up whilst in the trap.
He appears to be a feral cat. We will foster him for a while and see how he does.
We've named him Mr. Charlie Armbuster. 😻

GREAT NEWS!!! Layla is Adopted!

Layla is a four year old, indoor cat. She had been rescued by a nice woman once before. Sadly, due to a tragedy in the family, her rescuer had to move out of state to where she could not take pets with her so she was forced to surrender Layla to us. Layla was with Northport Cat Rescue since April 2018 and we are thrilled to report that she has finally found a loving home of her own! We are grateful to all of our wonderful volunteers who took such great care of Layla during her stay with us, showering her with love and attention and talking her up to anyone and everyone in hopes to finding a home for her.
We wish Layla and her new family all the best!
